SEC Saturday Recap

SEC Basketball kicked-off this past Saturday. Most games went according to plan, however their where a few “upsets” and bizarre games. Here is a brief write up on each.
Georgia 77 Kentucky 70
Biggest upset of the weekend by far, the Dawgs were able to build an 11 point halftime lead and held on in the second half for the win. The victory should help propel the Georgia team into the East race. The questions going into the race was did Georgia had the depth to hang with Kentucky and Florida.
Top Performers:
Kentucky: Terrance Jones 24/10
Georgia: Trey Thompsons 25/7/2 blocks
Up next: Georgia@ Vandy; Kentucky-Auburn
LSU 62 Auburn 55
LSU took a 32-6 halftime lead and help off Auburns 49 second half points. Both teams will defiantly struggle in conference play, but good win for LSU with all their young talent.
Top Performers:
LSU: Matt Dedenbecker: 15/8/3
Auburn: Ernest Ross 21/5/3
Up next: LSU-Arkansas, Auburn-Kentucky
Arkansas 68 Tennessee 65
Great matchup of two teams trying to prove themselves in the conference as contenders. Tennessee missed not having Bruce Pearl on the sidelines. The win solidifies Arkansas as a contender in the West.
Top Performer:
Arkansas: Delvin Johnson 17/4
Tennessee: Tobias Harris 21/11
Up next: Tenn.-Florida, Ark @LSU
Florida 77 Ole Miss 70
Back and forth battle all game, Florida proved to have too much talent for the Rebels (or Black Bear).
Top Performer:
Florida: Erving Walker 20/4/6/2 steals
Ole Miss: Reginald Buckner 13/10/4 blocks
Alabama 75 Mississippi State 57
Maybe the biggest surprise to me over the weekend, Bama with a huge road win will help move them up in the west standings.
Top Performer:
Alabama: Jamychal Green 10/11/2/2 steals/3 blocks (great stat line)
Mississippi State: Kodi Augustus 11/11
Up next: Alabama- South Carolina, Mississippi State @ Ole Miss
South Carolina 83 Vanderbilt 75
Great first weekend matchup, winner should avoid the cellar of the east.
Top Performer:
Vandy: Josh Jenkins 27/5
South Carolina: Sam Muldrow (line of the weekend) 16/14/10 blocks
Up next: South Carolina @ Alabama, Vandy-Georgia
